Training for an Active Life

Catherine’s Evolution

Aging Actively & Joyfully

I started working with Marlene 6 years ago when she was at the Tanger Be Well Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  When the facility closed, I knew I wanted to continue my workouts with her.

What I achieved training with Marlene

During the last 8 years I have trained for a half-marathon, started long distance cycling completing multiple Pan Mass Challenges and other physical endurance events.  I started these activities in my 50’s and continue now into my early 60’s.  I see myself as an active person.  However, after my first few sessions with Marlene I learned that I needed to work on my mobility, flexibility and strength train.

This continues to be our focus as I want to age as an active person.  Admittedly, I was not an easy client. I was reluctant to try new exercises. Over time she convinced me of the necessity of cross-training to compliment my endurance events.

Why did I choose Marlene?

Her credentials. I queried her education and length of time in her profession.  This is not a hobby for her; this is her career.  Over the years I have witnessed her attend professional events, learn and modify her technique based upon the evolving science, and stay current with best practices.  She is particular about alignment and safely executing exercises.  Our conversations involve a holistic approach to health.  We discuss diet, exercise, and healthy lifestyle choices.  Overtime I have evolved as a client.  I listen more, she motivates me and I respect her.
