Meet Marlene.
Experienced Personal Training in Greater Boston
I’m here to support your fitness & wellness journey
I work with people who feel better knowing that an expert is there to consistently help guide them along their path. Movement, and fitness in general is absolutely key to your mental and physical health. That doesn’t make it easy. My clients most value my compassionate accountability, and my attention and dedication to personalized intuitive programs that deliver lasting results.
Working with you where you are
My clinical experience makes me a different kind of personal trainer
I’m an exercise physiologist. I work for MGH’s Home Base Program for Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury and PTSD. I assist with the intensive clinical exercise program that has several components (cardiovascular, strength training, flexibility training and meditation).
During these sessions we monitor vitals and exercise form while educating them on the different components of exercise and the importance of self-care.
Personal training that does not include holistic self-care is in incomplete.
“First move well, and then move often.”
— Gray Cook
It was not unusual for some of the veterans to have spiked blood pressure readings, feel stressed or to sometimes not feel like exercising.
Yet once most of them get started, you could see their mood shift seismically. They become more relaxed and enjoy what they are doing. When they finish, they often express relief, and gratitude.
I have also been a part of the MGH Warrior Health and Fitness Team as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. I am committed to supporting veterans and those living with PTSD.
We all need different things to enable our ability to get moving.
I started lifting very small amounts of weight, and now I can carry my grandchildren up several flights of stairs!”
I not only survived cancer, but have thrived. I no longer have joint pain, my endurance and strength are better than ever, I know how to lift and stretch without fear of muscle damage and have begun to ski again!
I’ve been training people for 30 years.
It’s not an accident that I’m here. I love the work I do.
I have worked for many public and private institutions, and hundreds of individuals and families from diverse backgrounds helping them live healthier, more empowered lives.
We will train online, and someday, maybe even in-person!
It’s not just about getting “fit”, It’s about living well.
When you are ready to train with purpose and confidence, with a specific goal in mind, you are ready to create lasting results. Genuine purpose is the heart of how I work with my clients. We’ll identify yours, and build your programs and routines around your true intentions.
